The group grows in the dermatological segment
Florence, May 8 2003. El.En. – leader on the Italian laser market – and Quanta System (of which El.En. holds 30% of the shares) acquired, effective May 1, 2003, the dermatological business unit of Carl Zeiss Meditec AG, which continues to focus its business on ophtalmology. El.En. and Quanta acquired on a 50% / 50% basis Asclepion Laser Technologies Gmbh, a new company in which selected assets of the business unit have been dropped down by Carl Zeiss Meditec AG. The deal involves the sale of inventory, patents and trademarks related to the business unit, and the transfer of 44 employees (R&D, production, sales and service), but does not include receivables and payables and any indebtedness. The operations of Asclepion Laser Technologies Gmbh will be held in Jena. The investment effetcted by El.En. for this transaction will not have a material impact on its net financial position.
