This is the methodology that has revolutionized the skin rejuvenation procedures. It allows to achieve results similar to the laser total resurfacing (complete removal of the skin) without its typically long period of convalescence (down-time). Matisse Fractional Skin Resurfacing system is an Er:Glass laser at 1540 nm that produces a series of micro-columns of coagulated skin down to 1 mm depth, leaves the stratum corneum (the superficial layer of the skin) intact and leaves the dermis area surrounding the coagulation micro-columns untouched. This technique guarantees a faster healing process and much less temporary side effects when compared to the traditional skin resurfacing methodologies. Thanks to the regenerating action of the untreated areas between the coagulated ones, the necrotic dermis inside the micro-columns is quickly replaced by a new tissue which is much richer of collagen.
